How the Goodman family was directly impacted remains unknown. Their community was devastated and the Great Depression was just about to begin. It is unknown when or why they moved away from Arkansas, but Claude & Alma and their children; Joseph, Paul, Opal Mae, Eileen "Georgia", and William were recorded in the 1935 census as living in Gardena, California near Los Angeles. In the 1940 census they were all recorded as living in Inglewood, California, also near Los Angeles.
